There have been a lot of rumors and speculation that former President Donald Trump, post-presidency, could launch his own social media network where he’s guaranteed never to be censored like he was on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
The buzz died out for a while after some in his camp reportedly said the idea was dead, but new buzz has picked up in the past week that points to the strong possibility that he could move forward with the plan, which could literally reshape the social media landscape overnight.
According to the Washington Examiner, Trump reportedly has told several in his inner circle of friends that he has already secured “hundreds of millions” in investment backing for such a venture — even from several Silicon Valley heavy-hitters who are greatly concerned about social media censorship.
This week, during a round of his first television interviews since leaving the White House, he dropped multiple hints about which direction he’s leaning in as far as launching his own platform.
“We’re negotiating with a number of people,” Trump told Newsmax TV. “There is also the option of building your own site because we have more people than anybody, so you can literally build your own site. But we were being really harassed on Twitter. They were putting up all sorts of flags, I guess they call them, they were flagging almost anything you said.”

That’s not the first time the former president has used that specific language, fueling speculation that he and his team are on the brink of a massive announcement.
Making things even more interesting is that sources close to the 45th president said that the new venture could be designed in such a way that would allow Trump to engage with his tens of millions of fans without them being at risk of being censored and banned — a regular occurrence on Twitter and Facebook.
The sources also confirmed that Trump has been in talks with a number of high-rolling investors.
“They aren’t the people you might expect,” the source reportedly said, raising curiosity for many that Silicon Valley heavyweights like Elon Musk could possibly be involved.
The major issue with starting a new social network that could realistically compete with Facebook and Twitter, besides having the funding, is having the audience. We know for certain that 74 million Americans voted for Trump and still adore him to this day, so he’s got both obstacles covered, easily.
Only time will tell where this all ends up, but if Trump manages to launch his own platform, it’ll be the biggest and most welcomed news of the decade.
