Juneteenth became a national holiday this year. Although he had no clue what Juneteenth represented only one year ago, Joe Biden signed off on the official June 19th holiday, celebrating the freeing of slaves in America.
Black Americans in Oakland, California celebrated the official holiday by shooting each other.
The party ramped up when paramedics arrived on the scene in Oakland to care for the 6 gunshot victims, one of whom died at the scene.
As the Alameda Emergency Medical Services team was loading victims into the back of the ambulance, a mob of party-goers, who appear to be unfazed by the deadly shooting, twerked on the side of the emergency vehicle as onlookers videotaped and encouraged more to join in and participate in the vile, objectifying “dance.”
Several women were lined up alongside the ambulance twerking, while others jumped on the hood of the ambulance to twerk for the cheering crowd. Another male can be seen standing on top of the ambulance throwing a football at the crowd.
It’s hard to imagine what was going through the minds of these highly trained medical professionals who were on the ground, attempting to save lives, as the party kicked into high gear around them.
As American businesses attempt to rebuild after a year of Black Lives Matter looting, rioting, and burning cities—one has to wonder about how much Black lives really matter when a full-blown party breaks out around gunshot victims from their own community? What if the victims were shot by police? Would there still be a twerking party around emergency vehicles? When do black lives matter—only when they’re killed by cops while resisting arrest?

The Alameda County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday afternoon identified the man who died in the Oakland shooting as 22-year-old Dashawn Rhoades.
Rhoades brings the number to 60 lives lost to gun violence, so far, this year in the city.
