According to the White House, the border wall between the United States and Mexico is ineffective. Karine Jean-Pierre, the press secretary for the White House, told reporters in Washington that it was ineffectual.
She spoke one day after the United States. According to the Department of Homeland Security, four wall gaps in southern Arizona would be filled. According to a news release from the government, the projects will “address operational implications as well as acute life and safety hazards.”
The initiatives were approved by Alejandro Mayorkas, the agency’s secretary of homeland security, who was appointed by Vice President Biden. In December 2021, his agency declared that it will fill in “small gaps” in the wall as it finished off projects approved by the previous administration of President Donald Trump.

On Friday, Jean-Pierre argued that the decision was being made by the Biden administration because no building had been finished in the region by the time the Trump government concluded.
“The wall is not being completed. We are removing the debris that the previous administration’s failed attempt to construct a wall left behind, the official said.
When running for president in the 2020 election, Joe Biden promised that “not another foot of wall would be built” if he were elected, according to a reporter. The wall is not being completed, Jean-Pierre reiterated.

Biden returned to the Department of Defense about $2.2 billion that had been designated for wall construction after taking office. According to Mayorkas, the wall’s removal cost around $72 million.
About 650 miles of barriers were built along the border before the Trump era, with the majority being built under the Obama administration. According to the U.S., over 118 miles of barriers were built under Trump, with the bulk replacing already-existing sections of the wall. Office of Government Accountability.
The Department of Homeland Security said that “walls function” under the Trump administration, notably by obstructing border crossings by illegal immigrants. The construction of the wall was one of Trump’s campaign pledges in 2016.
Jean-Pierre used Customs and Border Protection documents as evidence to back up her allegation that the wall is ineffective. It was claimed that over 3,200 times over the course of two years, bollard fence, a form of barrier, were damaged along the border, necessitating millions of dollars in repairs.
Democrats oppose building more of the border wall, while most Republicans support it.
This week, a number of GOP senators responded warmly to the declaration made by the Biden administration.
According to a statement from Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Ark. ), “I will always give credit where credit is due.” This is a fantastic first step in defending Arizona against the flood of unauthorized immigrants pouring across the border.
